After our walk there George took us on another adventure to our next destination which was Saltram. This is a huge mansion of 96 rooms on was originally 500 acres. Since half of the property has been sold and the 250 acres left still was huge. The schools here are on a break of sorts for Easter and all of these properties are having activities for kids. It was over run with kids but luckily they were not touring the house or having tea in the Chapel Tearoom. We were told the 29th Army were hidden here on the grounds before the Omaha Beach invasion. It made me stop and think of my dad since he was in that invasion and wondered if he too might have been here.
| I had a fixation with the statue with the army helmet..why? |
After lunch and a walk through the house and gardens, we headed for our final destination of the day. It was a place called Plymouth Hoe...just a weird name for it but a really nice waterfront. There are lots of monuments here and the Mayflower is suppose to have left from this harbor.
| We don't know exactly what a "Hoe Club" is |
It was a really long day but a fun one that is now in the books...well done us!
Those are my favorite pics so far. I would love to see all of that!
