Eden Project, Lost Gardens, Long Walk and Packing

Wednesday we saw both coasts of Cornwall in the same day.  The Eden Project is on the opposite side of Cornwall near St. Austell.  It took us about an hour and a half to drive there.  It is quite the attraction.  I'm trying to think of what in the US would compare to it.  Something like Longwood Gardens in Delaware. maybe.  But they also grow food here as well as plants, flowers and trees and also hold events and concerts.  It is quite a lot of acreage so I will let the pictures show you what we saw.

They had a zip line too

After  four hours, we were in need of a rest and some food, so we headed on to our next destination which was the Lost Gardens of Heligan which was only  6 miles away.  After George took us the long way through hedgerows so high we thought we were in a corn maze, we made it.  It was a beautiful place with breathtaking views in places.  By the time we left there shortly before they closed, we were both tired puppies!  We stopped at the Co-op and got some soup and fixed sandwiches and went to bed.

Yesterday we spent the day walking to Port Gaverne.  Going there is easy (once you get to the top of Port Isaac of course which is all uphill) because it is downhill.  Coming back is the issue.  Wow, it was a really steep hill.  We met a lady walking her dog who said you can't look up when you are going up the hill, you had to look down or out to sea or you wouldn't make it.  We made it and then walked around the village as well. We were buying gifts and things we wanted to take home.  We ran into Ian McNiece and Cindy at The Mote and chatted for a bit.  He is really the only one we have seen in the village since the filming on Monday.  He always recognizes us though and asks where we have been that day.  He says he enjoys our Facebook posts telling what we have done.  I keep up with two pages on there as well as do this blog.  Anyway, it nice to know he enjoys reading what we post as well.  Another gal we met through Ian is Nicki B who owns the Pasty shop around the corner.  She is a hoot and we have enjoyed talking with her.  She is also quite  the heroine here as well because she is a member of the Royal Lifeboat team.  This is a huge charity here and there first responders for sea emergencies.

Now we are on our last full day here and of course had to clean up and pack which is still going on.  We have met so many nice people here and on this trip.  Susan Hill is a Doc Martin fan from Facebook that we really hit it off with.  She was so much fun and we would love to see Susan again. Collette Brifaut we met while in Devon because she is also a fan.  She was so helpful in advising on things to do while we were staying there and we met her for lunch before moving on to Port Isaac.  We wish we had more time with her but formed a lasting relationship.  I think all of the people we met that live here are happy that we enjoy exploring their beautiful country too.

We had our last dinner at the Mote and it was delicious...nice wine too.  Got back here and are cleaning things out of the kitchen so we don't have much to do in the morning.  We have about a five hour drive tomorrow back to London where it began a month ago.  We are staying at the Hilton at Heathrow airport tomorrow night and we fly home on Sunday.  I have a few things to sum up which I will do after I get home and I already have a name for it....Signs, Seagulls and #Charming!

Anyway until the summary and final episode...well done us and proper job!
